Discover Simple Ways Your Family Can Care for Creation
One of my favorite sounds is the song of birds chirping outside my window. Their tune reminds me of sunshine, green growth, and new life . . . the hope of Spring! Each season brings beautiful reminders of God’s creation but there’s just something about Spring that turns my attention toward the incredible world God made and His call for us to care for it. ‘
Genesis 2:15 (NIV) says, “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”
Can you imagine the joy of living in and caring for God’s garden?
If God asked Adam to care for His perfect garden, before sin ever imposed on all that He had made, how much more does the Earth we live in today need our care?
Our call to be stewards of creation is not one to be met with drudgery but rather, an excitement to do our part to preserve the valuable resources we enjoy—land, air, water, plants, and animals. Yes, it can feel overwhelming to think about making a difference in our great, big world. But when each of us makes small changes, together, we make a big impact on creation. We understand that family life is busy and full and you may not have time to start a worm bin or tend a garden. There is no pressure to adopt every suggestion in this resource. As you dig into each area, prayerfully consider what small changes you can make.
. . . . . . . . . .
Caring for God’s amazing creation can feel like a really big job! But you don’t have to memorize statistics, understand the latest science, or even dramatically change your lifestyle to care for the earth. Creation care can start with simple habits and just being aware . . . that God created the earth and every amazing thing in it, and that we are called to take care of His creation.
