Night Owls and Early Birds is a new topical Bible study show from the creators of Owlegories! Join Hoot, Savannah, Screech, Charlie, and Steve as they take a deeper dive into the truths found in God’s Word!
This series is great for kids, families, and children’s ministries to learn about God through allegories.
What Parents Should Know
There are 3 sections of Night Owls and Early Birds called The Sun, The Seed, and The Water. Each section contains 3 episodes, for a total of 9 episodes of Night Owls and Early Birds.
In each episode, kids learn about God and His Word through three unique and fun segments. The Early Bird Show explores the history and science of each topic; the Nightly Round Up dives deeper into different passages of scripture; and the Night Owl Show recaps it all with a fun game at the end.
The theme verse behind the show is Deuteronomy 11:19 – “Teach them [God’s Word] to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
The Sun
Episode 1: God is Powerful
Join Hoot, Savannah, Melvin, Screech, and Charlie as they explore the power of God using the sun as a metaphor. The big idea is that since God created the sun, He must be even more powerful! “No one is like you, Lord; you are great, and your name is mighty in power.” Jeremiah 10:6 (NIV)
Episode 2: Jesus is Light of the World
God is light. He wants to shine His light in and through us. Just as the sun lights our path, God’s Word gives light to guide us. “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5 (NIV)
Episode 3: God gives us life
Our news team explores God as the Creator of all living things. He gives us life both physically and spiritually. Just as the sun gives life to plants, Jesus gives new life to those who believe. “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.” Ephesians 2:4-5 (NIV)
The Seed
Episode 1: The Importance of God’s Word
Join Hoot, Savannah, Melvin, Screech, and Charlie as they explore how God’s Word helps us grow in our faith. Just as a seed needs particular things to grow, we need help growing to maturity. God’s Word is one of the most important things that believers need to help us grow. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)
Episode 2: The Importance of Prayer
Our journalists take a deeper look at prayer in the Bible and answer the question of how prayer helps us grow in our relationship with God. “Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” John 15:4 (NIV)
Episode 3: The Importance of Fellowship with Others
Night Owls & Early Birds news team discusses the importance of serving others and enjoying fellowship with other followers of Christ. “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” Hebrews 10:24 (NIV)
The Water
Episode 1: God’s Love Never Runs Out
Join Hoot, Savannah, Melvin, Screech, and Charlie as they explore the the love of God. Like water from an endless spout, God’s love will never run out! “And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge” Ephesians 3:17-19 (NIV)
Episode 2: God’s Love is Pure
Join our journalists as they investigate the unconditional and pure love of God. “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.” 1 John 4: 8-9 (NIV)
Episode 3: God’s Love Always Satisfies
Our news team explores how God’s love always satisfies, so we’ll never be spiritually “thirsty” again. His love will overflow in our hearts and spill out to others in our lives. “Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.” Isaiah 55:2 (NIV)
