Merry Christmas! How are you getting in the holiday spirit this year? Might we suggest a favorite activity of ours here at Minno … curling up with a cup of cocoa, some fresh cookies and your family’s favorite Christmas movie?

 

Family movie nights are an all-year-round staple for many of you, but there’s just something extra special about holiday movies. With everything from the classics you grew up on as a kid to the newest CGI adventures, to some of our Minno streaming favorites, this list was crowd-sourced for and from you! (Thanks to all of you who participated in sharing your family’s favorite Christmas movie on our Facebook page!)

 

Here is our totally unofficial but really fun list of the 10 best family Christmas movies (in no particular order).

 

1. Buck Denver Asks^® … Why Do We Call It Christmas?

Ok, well this one MIGHT be in order! If you’re looking for a movie to stream on Minno that will help answer all of your questions about Christmas – like why do we hang stockings and decorate trees? – this is just the movie for you.

 

2. A Charlie Brown Christmas

This was the most popular movie from our audience survey! Who doesn’t love celebrating Christmas with Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus and the gang?

 

3. It’s A Wonderful Life

The most-classic of all Christmas classics … The charming Jimmy Stewart stars as George Bailey, who learns a very important lesson from his guardian angel Clarence.

 

4. Elf

Buddy the Elf (Will Ferrell) became a Christmas icon after Elf released in 2003. If you love sweet comedies, don’t miss this one.

 

5. VeggieTales^® – The Star of Christmas

We love Bob and Larry! This Christmas movie takes them on an adventure in England where they learn the true meaning of Christmas from a group of children putting on a play.

 

6. The Muppet Christmas Carol

The Muppets + Charles Dickens? We’re in – and we have been for the over 20 years this movie has been on repeat in our homes at Christmastime. Don’t miss it!

 

7. White Christmas

We’ve reached this writer’s personal favorite Christmas movie … White Christmas! If you’ve ever wondered about the classic song, make sure you watch this wonderful musical starring Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney.

 

8. A Christmas Story

Another Christmas comedy classic! Watch as beloved Ralphie tries to convince his parents to get him a special present.

 

9. The Polar Express

The Polar Express is a beautiful adaptation of the classic book by the same name, starring Tom Hanks.

 

10. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Another family Christmas classic, this adaptation of the beloved Dr. Seuss book brings the Grinch and Whoville to life.
